We distribute non-sensitive FAA data to the public. Our information comes directly from the FAA processing center.
Pilots are grouped into six certificate categories according to their experience and training.
• Student (In training)
• Recreational (Can file small Aircraft with certain limitations)
• Sport (Can file Light Sport Aircraft with certain limitations)
• Private (Can fly most aircraft with few limitations)
• Commercial (Can file for hire)
• ATP (Can Captain an Airliner)
Only commercial and ATP rated pilots can fly for hire.
Within these broad categories are many ratings such as:
• Certified Flight Instructors (CFI / CFII)
• Instrument Rated Pilots who are qualified to fly in bad weather (IMC)
under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR)
• Helicopter (rotorcraft) Pilots
The airman's directory file contains data on all pilots with a current Medical Certificate registered in the USA. Data can be selected by state, county, or zip code. Data is updated monthly.
